Monday the 1st: Moving Day

 I'm now up to the moving day in posting pictures.

First, see our checklist for making sure we were ready to move.

Monday the 31st: Saint of the Week

 This week is actually very slim for saints. We have St. Gregory the Great on Thursday and St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) on Saturday.

Friday the 28th: Moving on

 My students threw a party for me, and the main decoration with the phrase that I would tell them at the end of each class. I feel like it sounds harsh, but it was meant to get them moving to their next class.

I had the ribbon below it on my key chain, on the main key to our house, for 11 years. I took it off the day I put the key in the pile to transfer to the new owners.  

 

 

Thursday the 27th: Food of the Week

 *Friday I'm making french toast sandwiches with peanut butter and banana in the middle.

*Thursday, today, we're having cheeseburgers from somewhere because we have several evening commitments. Maybe Spangles because I want to try their chicken and waffles as well.

*Wednesday, yesterday, I made turkey burgers with shallots and parsley and mint in them. They were quite good even though we ate late due to phone calls and work.

*Tuesday the Son made pancakes and bacon, alone, because of another meeting. What a week! He learned how hard it is to regulate temperature when cooking pancakes on a gas stove. It was really nice.

*Monday I made chicken salad with tarragon, toasted almonds, and grapes. I love it. I also made Syrian Bread that is a little bland alone but really good with chicken salad. 

Wednesday the 26th: Work of the Week

 Yesterday I did a haircut and met with a videographer for a short interview and made connections with a formation leader in the area.

Today I did groceries and laundry and worked on chores. I'll be available for a back to school night if a sibling needs backup. We also got some food delivered that we had ordered so we have some fun things on hand.

Tomorrow I want to keep looking for a desk and arrange for a TB test.  

Tuesday the 25th: Heading out and using up

 I used up frozen strawberries, chocolate sauce, and puff pastry to make the fancy dessert.

We bought a new fireplace screen for the first buyer who pulled out, it was disliked by the second buyer, but the third buyer (who stuck with it) didn't make any objection.

Friday the 21st: Spices and spicy hair

 I packed all the spices except the ones seen here before moving, and we survived just fine for a couple weeks.

I've been taking pictures of hair I like in preparation for a haircut next week; I'm hoping the stylist is brave enough to cut lots off (unlike my beloved Olga who told me my beautiful hair needed to be long and refused to chop it off). 

 

 

Wednesday the 19th: Work of the Week

 So far I did get the CDs sorted and back in their binder; I sent JL a letter and check for an organ concert in October; I called and got forms from Mutual of America and turned them back in.

Hopefully the rest of this week I will go to Spice Merchant, work on my sub credentials, and book a room at the Abbey for September. If I can do all that my major tasks that have been hanging over my head will be done...except for finding a desk. Maybe I can concentrate on that next week. 

Tuesday the 18th: More random pictures

 These are from the end of May. The top one is a mug that a student's dad made for me, and it's beautiful and I love it. The second is chicken and lemon potatoes and I don't even know what else is on that plate.

St. John Eudes (OM), Priest

Dates:  August 19                                11/14/1601-8/19/1680    

Place:  born in Ri, Normandy, France; died in Caen, Normandy, France

Importance:  founded Sisters of the Good Shepherd/Sisters of our Lady of Charity  (work with prostitutes); author of liturgical devotion to Sacred and Immaculate Hearts; also founded Congregation of Jesus and Mary, which works for the education and sanctification of priests

Name means:  God is gracious; gift of God

Food/Symbol:  hearts of Jesus and Mary

 Prayer:  “Father, you chose the priest John Eudes to preach the infinite riches of Christ.  By his teaching and example help us to know you better and live faithfully in the light of the gospel.  Grant this…Amen.”

  Quotes:  “You belong to the Son of God, but more than that, you ought to be in him as the members are in the heard.  All that is in you must be incorporated into him.  There will be no true life for you except in him, for he is the one source of true life.  Apart from him you will find only death and destruction.  Let him be the only source of your movements, of the actions and strength of your life.”

The Christian life is a continuation and completion of the life of Christ in us. We should be so many Christs here on earth, continuing His life and His works, laboring and suffering in a holy and divine manner in the spirit of Jesus.

The air that we breathe, the bread that we eat, the heart which throbs in our bosoms, are not more necessary for man that he may live as a human being, than is prayer for the Christian that he may live as a Christian.

A Christian has a union with Jesus Christ more noble, more intimate and more perfect than the members of a human body have with their head.
