Thursday the 5th: Food of the Week

*Friday will be roast beef sandwiches.

*Tonight is beef barley soup; I made the broth and cooked the meat on Tuesday, so today should be fat skimming, adding the veggies and barley, and cooking everything off. Today I also made a bread pudding and tonight we'll put together bolognese for the Husband to serve on Sunday.

*Last night was a sweet potato and regular potato casserole with sage browned butter. It was delicious; we got some Sonic to fill out the meal.

*Tuesday the Son made a really unusual salad with kale, roasted sweet potato and onion, blue cheese, pecans, and homemade dressing. Somehow everything came together and it was delicious.

*Monday we had one of the Husband's coworkers over for supper and had chicken and poblano tacos. Everything cooks under the broiler on one pan, so it's pretty easy as long as you start on time. We also did rice pilaf from rice a roni but it burned a little on the bottom. We just skipped that layer.

I also made shokupan, and the cookies were French Sable cookies that didn't quite turn out--but still tasty.
