Wednesday the 30th: Food of the Week

*Sunday we made burgers, onion rings, and pumpkin chocolate chip bread. It needs 1/3 c. less water to be most successful. Then I hopped in the car and headed to Wichita for a rosary vigil. It was beautiful.

*Monday was Scholars Bowl (middle school) tournament so  I wasn't home until after 7.

*Tuesday, yesterday, I made the first chili of the year and corn bread from a Jiffy box. Big C loves chili. This recipe is really easy, always tastes good, and if made by the full batch makes plenty for friends. I just did a half batch this time; I deglaze the pan with wine before I put in the water just for some extra flavor. The simmering for a long time is part of guaranteeing a good outcome.

*Tonight will be salad kit or leftovers; I have choir practice at 7.

*Tomorrow I have a Vigil Mass at 6 but before that I'll make fancy Sloppy Joes. I've done this for Halloween for almost 10 years now, so it's definitely a tradition. It's a nice tasty choice, and we bought mini pretzel buns for our eating pleasure.

*Hopefully tomorrow I'll have the energy to make gingersnaps; this recipe makes lots but they are a very tasty lots. I'm not sure, though, as the other activities this week are definitely making me a little tired.
